Marie Do you have to use fresh lemon? Or could I use bottled lemon juice or those little plastic squeeze lemons from the produce section?
In answer to your question. Yes, you have to use a 'real' lemon. Almost all juices on the market are so processed that by the time you buy them, they have very little nutritional or medicinal value. I usually look for 'organic' due to the fact that most produce anymore is sprayed with chemicals to help them look all shiny bright and free of bug stings, and the chemicals are poisons. My son and wife gave me a 'mayer. lemon tree for Christmas in 2014, and it put on 3 lemons, which I used in a couple of days but this year it has at least 20 lemons on it this year.
The reason I am so wound up about lemons. I read an article a couple of years ago, that lemon zest can eradicate skin cancers, liver spots etc. You can actually freeze lemons. Clean them very well with a brush, put them in a Ziploc bag and put them in the freezer. When you need lemon zest (grated lemon rind), just pop one out of the freezer and grate off what you need.
I had an uneven 'dark' spot on my wrist, where you wear a wristwatch. (Many metals used in the production of jewelery contain lead, which is a poison to our body). Occasionally the dark spot would itch, and if I unconsciously scratched it, it would become irritated and seep fluid a bit. Had that spot about 4 years, and although it didn't change size, the occasional seeping kept me concerned, so after I read the article on lemon zest, I took action. I froze and then zested a lemon, and started keeping this zest in place with a band aid. Left it on for 3 or 4 days and left it OFF for a couple of days to rest. I did this for about a month, and the irritable spot on my wrist is totally gone now for over 6 months. You can use the same frozen lemon until all the peeling is grated off.
Our bodies are supposed to be alkaline, in order to keep our livers healthy. Due to the amount of processed foods, insecticides etc that we come in contact with and breathe in daily, our bodies become acid. An acid system is what feeds cancer cells or causes an imbalance of enzymes that causes our liver to become full of 'trash' or stuff that it cannot process. When the liver gets full of 'trash, it begins to seep into our bodies and cause cancer and other autoimmune conditions.
I won't impound on this unless someone is really interested but transforming out body from acid to alkaline can improve our health 100%. I get most of my information from reading articles written by naturapathic doctors or researchers. If you are interested in helping keep your immune system functioning, look into using Braggs apple cider vinegar, too. All you need to do is type Braggs Apple cider vinegar (it is organic) into your browser. It really works too, to help get and keep your body alkaline. That and the use of lemons can go a long way to helping you stay healthy........and staying as far away from synthetic sugar, which causes food addictions which is the major cause of obesity and diabetes. I read a lot
