Normally I don't "do" people. I took some photos at my sister's wedding, and some of those turned out great, but shooting people has never been my calling.
Of course, that is my latest photography class assignment. I used my Nikon D3200 with a 55-300 mm lens for all of these photos. They are my best shots, but I'll have to pick just four of them to send to my instructor.
I don't know if I'll leave them on the site long-term since they are photos of random people (well, most are random, but the one who is not, you can only see his eyes...) But, I did want to share them.
Other than the rearview mirror photo, all were taken at Pike Street Market in Seattle. Some just have amazing color.
This lady was perfect. However, people kept getting in the way and I couldn't get the shot I really wanted, and I didn't want to stalk her for too long.
I was just riding along in the van when I looked up and saw my coworker's eyes in the rearview mirror. I got my camera out and told him it might be weird, but I really wanted to take his picture. I wish I could have caught the amazing light blue of his eyes this day, but still turned out well. Ended up having to manually focus to get his eyes sharp and the view out the window blurred, auto-focus was just too "all over the place".
Any time you're in Seattle and want some pretty flowers fairly cheap, there are two stalls at the market...
I got a couple good shots of this guy. He was the third person we found playing and singing in this spot--I think they rotate about every half hour. Anyway, I love the dog in this shot, but love the eye contact in the next. I took one when I first saw him, the other while my son was buying some bread from the bakery. I made sure to drop some money in his box though, especially since he didn't get mad that I took a few photos.
He moved a LOT while he sang. I was so happy to get one with such great focus on his eyes. I had to focus the camera, and then wait until he was still enough I didn't get a lot of blur (I have a couple where his hat is pretty fuzzy, I boosted the shutter speed a little to make it all more sharp). I think I'm going to turn in this one, but I really wish the dog was in the picture more.
Another area with a lot of people going by. This guy was handing out samples.
This guy was great The picture just makes me smile. I definitely think it will be one of the four I turn in.
Although I love the color and the depth/blurring on this shot, I don't think it will be one of my four.
