Some specimens from a hike in the 'booger woods'. A beautiful Amanita chlorinsoma. NOT edible. POISONOUS. Name comes from odor of chlorine when mushroom is crushed.'Penny bun' bolete. It is one of the 'King Bolete' family. Highly sought after for it's nutty flavor. This was the first one I was able to identify to the point of harvesting and eating. It was delicious, but tasted more like bacon to me. Could be the butter. Two large King Bolete's. These were too old. Soggy, rotting ... the identification material was EXACTLY right! They smelled like cooked shrimp a little past it's prime. It was uncanny how much it smelled that way.Nice little puffball. I incorrectly thought the bug on there was the opening for the spores to be expelled. I thought the puffball was too far along to be good to eat. My mistake. Photo shows it's a bug. Should have put my glasses on!A very pretty green mushroom. It's an Aniseed Toadstool. Edible but I didn't know it till I came home and looked it up.Buff or cream colored coral fungi.Such a nice blue color to this indigo milk cap. It is edible too.Nice little bolete. Not sure which one. Left it alone. Terripin (box turtle) munching out on a nice bolet mushroom.Nice sized King Bolete. A little past it's prime. I didn't harvest it.Bicolor bolete, so called because of the red cap and stalk and yellow underneath the cap. It is edible. It was so pretty, I left it.
