I'd read about them somewhere. Yesterday I was checking the project garden and saw the grapevine leaves nearby and decided to try them. I don't have a deep fryer at Brooks so I just put oil in a skillet, it worked well. Just remove the stems from the leaves, clean them, get the oil hot and place a leaf in. This goes quickly so have the tongs ready to remove the leaves from the oil. I did one leaf at a time. They get crumbly and need your full attention. I did turn them once if I had time. when 'done' (guess at it), take them out an place them on paper towels to drain, add a little salt to them as they drain. For the novelty, this was ok and I might do it again. Preparing the leaves. Ready to eat. You have to handle them gently or they'll crumble away.
