One of our native snakes - totally harmless, but very shy. This was a juvenile (about 6 inches long) I spotted a couple of years ago.

I wish I saw more snakes. Then again, I like snakes and would probably try just as hard to catch it as take a picture, lol.

You wouldn't really want to catch one of these, their defence method is to excrete a foul smelling substance all over your hands and/or throw up over you - harmless, but a little unpleasant

I've had snakes as pets, and many of them will defecate on you if you're holding them and they become startled for some reason.
