Even in late October when the afternoon sun is warm enough River Cooters like to pop out for a warm up on a log. They're cold blooded and the warmth must feel very good to them. Often they'll stretch out a hind foot and use it like a solar panel to gather heat. The feet are big, black and make good collectors.

I need to spend more time outdoors. The last time I saw a turtle was about 12 years ago at the childrens pond in the park. Turtles? Frogs? Bring them on.
