I got very lucky on these. We were staying at Vero Beach and it was our last morning. The conservation team had dug out a nest that hatched three days before so they could rescue the ones that didn't make it out. This was one of the three that were still alive but didn't make it out. They said only 1 in 1,000 will ever make it to breeding age. Fingers crossed this may be the one!

I know the survival rate is really, really low and they're such cuties! I think the biggest reason they've made it this long is a long lifetime. So many hazards just to get to the water where they face ... more hazards.
