Found some beautifully adorned orange blossomed Jewel Weed (Wild Touch Me Not) yesterday (9-2-13). Jewel Weed can have this orange blossom or a brilliant yellow bloom. The very juicy stems, crushed and applied to poison ivy you may have contracted will make the itching stop almost immediately and the ivy dries up and goes away in a couple of days. (With severe cases ALWAYS see your doctor).

How very pretty! And nice that they're useful, too.

The reason for the second name 'Touch Me Not' is ... look to the bottom of the photo. You'll see a couple of seed pods. When the seeds inside are mature enough to germinate, anything that touches those pods causes them to burst open rapidly as if they are spring loaded. This propels the seeds inside out in all directions thus spreading the seeds to make more plants.
