Desmond Warren
Maidstone I remember it well:
I haven't checked this site out for a while but I'm back here now ! I spent the first 20 odd years
of my life in Maidstone where I was born in 1946. My father was Dr. Alan Warren and his surgery was Milestone House, 538 Loose
Road where he, my mother Phylis, my sister Kathleen and I all lived. My father had 3 brothers who were all Drs in Maidstone too.
Uncle Bill had his surgery in Tonbridge Road. Uncle George and Uncle Harry both worked from Broseley House on th first right hand
bend up London Road (now gone and replaced) My grandparents lived in Rocky Hill House just beyond Broseley but on the left side
and now a B&B. Where I hope to stay one day. Strangest memory of Maidstone was a full sizes dead Whale on a lorry being shown from
the open market area for a few days beside the bridge ! I was shocked to see while passing through the town a few years ago that
the lovely old Tudor pub called The Queens Head" beside where the Canon used to be is now a flipping Pizza Hut ! I spent many happy
evenings there in the early '60s with Richard Harvey (son of the owners John and Hilda) and a group of other mates. Happy Days
! I live in Gloucester now.
