in 1792 Jane Rayner nee Colison wifr of John Rayner of Boughton Monchelsea gave birth to a Son.James.
when he was 19 James Rayner enlisted in the West Kent Militia.
He was based a Maidstone till December When he and other recuits were sent to Hull in Yorkshire after recieciving the kits.As the rest of thr regiment were stationed there.
The regiment was made up of 3 divisions in 1812 some went to the first went to Hucersfield .then to TTadcaster and on toPontifract,
The othe two went to Leeds.In May all the regiment was in Leeds.
ther was 113 men Left the Militia to join line to join the Regiments the Regiments favoured my the Militia were the 52nd and the

He moved tonottingham in the August then to then Ipswich.In the December hr went with the West Kent MiMilitia at the Tower of London.Thhet wer releving the Notingham Militia
1813 tjt West Kent Militia joined the Aberdeen Miltia and guarded the French Prisoners of war at Normans Crosss near Peterborough.
From there the regiment moved to Colchester.
On his way to Colchester they got the order to return to London as there was the relizeation London was und protected if the Grench invaded.so at 5am he fond on his way back in Wagons a coach tgat wer waiting for them at Colchester.
4 days later they arived at Bow before evevan along with other members of the Nilitia had signed on with the 3rsRegiment of the foot Guard.

James Ranyer's Regiment was sent to the Neverlands to expal the French at Bergen op Zoom,where he waswounded in the shoulder with a Musket Shot.on the 16th july he was promoted to Corparal.
the next year the 3rd were sent to the neverlands again to Quatre Bras to get there thay had a 20 mile forced March.in Hot weath fo;;owed my a night of feace storms.
at dawn the stood but in ground was inpassable.they heard Church Bells,in was Sunday.
His Regiment were sent to Chataeu of Hougoumont.to reenforce the Coldstream Guards.The fight was fought in the Woods,gardenand Orchards.the 3rd lost 12 officers and 227 other Ranks.the3rdand the Coldstream Guards force the Gates to the Chateau shut.
Welling to is reported as saying this was the turning point in the battle.
Among Wellingons Officers was the Prince of Orange.he was 23 and had fought at the battle atQuatra brasand at Woterloo with grear corage.
nepoleon fond out the Prince was there and planed to capture the Prince at 5O'clock that evening the French Curassiersmade the attack"Ponsonby's brigade ,charged by the Red Lancers of the guard under General Corbert was broken into..the Genral was pieced by 7 Lances and died..The Prince of Orenge,on the point of being seized was wounded.Corporaljames Rayner among the mayham of the battle he carried HRH the Prince of Orange of the field.
the prince was layed on a Door and caried to his quaters6weeks later his blood stained bed and the door were shown to some English Ladies who were touring the battle fields.
