We've actually had no decent weather for taking pictures for weeks (months?) ... I have been concerned about the little minks choice of a den. Here, their front door is submerged by at least three feet and the river gets much higher at times. The heavy rains, and now the weight of ice on the branches is toppling trees throughout the area. Still haven't been able to get close enough to the Kingfisher for a decent photo, but I am STILL trying.

It's been bitter cold here for the last week, causing me to worry about the feral cats i care for. But, they find ways to survive, and the mink must do the same. Maybe another entrance, or a backup den?
That's still a good shot of the kingfisher, btw.

There are more areas with broken boulders farther from the water. I hope the minks just move into spaces under them. Minks are pretty hearty, I think they'll be ok. Just a shame to loose there little lair down by the water's edge. It was a nice place for them.
