I hiked the 3 mile Gwinn Ridge Loop yesterday (March 1st, 2016). Always brings back a lot of memories. My grandfather and a great uncle leased this property when I was a boy. We farmed the whole ridge. Hay, corn, beans, sorghum cane (for making molasses) cucumbers and fields of oats, wheat and buckwheat. The photo of the Sandstone Visitor's Center on I-64 is now on the site of what used to be Sandstone High School. I graduated from there in 1967. Sandstone Visitors Center Near the entrance to the New River Gorge National River. It sits on land that once was the location of Sandstone High School. I graduated from there in 1967. This photo is looking north from Gwinn Ridge. The next photos are looking south from Gwinn Ridge toward Brooks, Barksdale and waaaaaay to the back, the West End of Hinton WV. Foreground lower right is Summers County High School. Far in the background is the West End of Hinton.
