UPDATE - Gracie is home. The Dr. advised to watch her VERY closely and at ANY sign of ANYTHING, no matter how small to bring her back in right away. Gracie is still in a lot of pain. She can hardly stand and walking is just pitiful to watch. As you can see in the photo, she did leave her bandage on for the time being. I've watched her closely and hope that she won't take it off. Graice's appetite is good. I'm sure they gave her food in the hospital but she is spoiled and picky. She got an ice cream bar immediately upon her arrival home yesterday. She ate several bites of a sandwich with me for dinner. At midnight last night, she got up from her pallet and I felt she might want to go out. She did. She made it without being carried! We did our little 'piddle' in the back yard then I gave her another ice cream bar. Then she actually managed to claw her way onto my bed. She's still there . I did get her meds into her this a.m. THREE pills, one is HUGE (at least two of them are anti-biotics). The she had too BIG farm fresh 'country' eggs, scrambled, in bed ... of course. It's getting daylight now so we'll need to try the back yard again. We are truly blessed with an incredible outpouring of love and prayers. Thank you all.

Thank you mic, and les, She's still very feeble and still has a lot of pain. I had hoped the recovery would go more quickly. I hate to see her suffering. She does wiggle a bit when I talk to her now. This is an improvement.

Here's Gracie's foot after three full weeks of healing. Still lots of skin missing. She did have an appointment with her vet yesterday. We got a good report. The vet took her off antibiotics and only instructed to watch closely for infection and apply antiseptic ointment. The vet says the affected tissue now appears healthy with good circulation. We're hoping that in a couple more weeks Gracie will have grown enough skin back on the foot for a proper walk.

I'll be calling the vet this morning as soon as their office opens. Gracie tried chasing a rabbit across the yard yesterday evening after dinner. She fell. Her left front leg or shoulder is injured badly. She can't walk. I carried her in and spent most of the night laying in the floor with her. I'll try carrying her out to pee when it gets light unless it's too painful for her. I don't know if she fell and injured the leg/shoulder of if in running something happened to the leg or shoulder causing the fall. It's too painful for her to do much of an examination on my own. I don't see major swelling but her coat is very thick. I did take her for a short walk on the island yesterday morning while it was cool. I was busy, but so glad I took the time to take her.
