Catnip (Nepeta cataria)
Catnip is a long-blooming perennial that grows 2 to 3 feet tall and has white flowers that bloom from May to September. Deer hate the smell of these plants, so they generally don't eat them.

I do like the smell when I'm mowing and cut a clump. I've given starts to lots of folks and little baggies to some of my cat people friends. One lady that I work with pulled a baggie out from her purse in the post office while looking for something. She said she had a hard time explaining to everyone that it was just catnip.
