Took a walk over to 'my' island yesterday. Lots of damselflies.

Thank you I'm struggling with my Tamron lens. It's an 18 - 270 zoom and I've worn out the auto focus drive. It does have a manual setting and I'm using it with that until I can maybe get another lens. It seems the repair is more for this one than I paid for it .... grrrrrrrrrr .........

Those are incredible, the tails look like they've been dipped in silver. Especially impressive not having auto focus.

Thank you apple. It's difficult. There's no focus grid or double image in the view finder like my old film 35's. I'm kinda lost. Still fun though. Glad you like the pics. I'm sort of weird on subject matter.

I can be weird on subject matter too--love bugs but most of them are too fast for me still. I do have some of slugs from a hike though!
The damselflies look a lot like dragonflies, are they a similar species, or the same thing? I had never heard of them before, but dragonflies are a favorite of mine. Would love to find one resting and catch that color.

I think they are very closely related. Some folks make little distinction. The old name for dragon flies was 'snake doctor'. I think damselflies were called 'darning needles'. Maybe because they are so long and slender.
