1924 during the Month of May in the southeast of Kent
Mr S.E.Winbolt and his helpers found the remains of two Roman houses
both had Bathrooms. This was on East Cliff.
a landslip had caused the drain to be reviewed.
There had been a Roman tile uncovered with the drain.
Mr Winbolt a local man plus 20 men cleared the site.
They believe they were lived in till AD350 was built before Add100
and the other was a lot new.
The dig found that each house had 20 rooms a corridor a courtyard and mosaic
Floor.
There also found a Kitchen with surprise remains of food. two fireplaces.
many open hearths, with the remains of earthenware nozzle of bellows.
chain coins, bronze brooches hairpins, and a screw with a perfect thread.
It has been suggested that it was the home of Carausius.
Mr. Winbolt thought it more likely the home of the Admiral of the Saxon Shore
