This will be our running board. It's a good place to check in each time you visit to see what everyone is up to TODAY! I'll pin it so it will always be handy. Just click in and check the last post or so to get caught up on all the active prattle.

There is a bird clinic on the old farm adjoining the farm I grew up on. It is the Three Rivers Avian Center on Brooks Mountain in Southern West Virginia. I've become friends with the folks that operate the avian hospital there. I sometimes volunteer a little time to help out. They called the other day and asked if I could come help with some children coming to do some projects at the center. I was happy to oblige. Well, I got to the Avian Center today, but there was a mix up of days and dates. The kids aren't coming until tomorrow (Sunday .... which is today since I'm working night shift) ... so I've been invited back. We went ahead with part of the project, building a new bird house.... 8X16 feet! We got the two long walls assembled, stood up, braced and the rafters done today ( which was yesterday, Saturday, since I'm working nigh shift) ... I took time to take a pic of Regis, the resident American Bald Eagle and a couple of the Golden Eagle that TRAC is trying desperately to save from lead poisoning. Regis: The Female Golden Eagle, being cared for by Ron and Wendy Perrone.

To our membership ... I will be working with the problems experienced in registering. Any suggestions to help with new registrations will be greatly appreciated. This is not the start up I had hoped for. I have and have had several Proboards message boards and have never experienced problems with registering new accounts before. I hope this is an isolated 'glitch' for myself and the other person who has tried, unsuccessfully to register.

I wonder if you couldn't perhaps register FOR that person, using their email and their choice of username? I'm also assuming they don't have a global ID already, so you would have to use a temporary password for them, that they would then change via their profile. It's an idea. Not sure how well it would work, however.
I love raptors, by the way. We have lots of Swainson's Hawks where I work (lots of rabbits and prairie dogs around). I recently got a few pictures of one that I may post later. Unfortunately, it was several hundred feet away. I didn't want to scare it off by getting out of my car to get the tripod, so the pictures were taken at full zoom (lens is a 28-533 mm) from inside my car. I propped my arm on the passenger seat, but they're still a bit blurry, of course.
I've also got some pictures of turkey vultures enjoying their road kill dinner somewhere.

moonbeam, I offered her exactly that. I haven't heard back from her. I'm not sure that will work though as now, with V5 I would have to be able to log into her email, copy the activation code and enter it into the box when registering. When I did the dummy account (cooterman) there was no registration link like there was in V4. I was required to copy the activation code and paste it into the 'login' box to complete registration. I wouldn't want anyone to give me the password to their email.

So for me, it's literally just a couple of steps to join a new forum. That lens sounds awesome! Love your avatar too. Is that one of your photos? I love my camera, even if I don't know how to use it to the best of its capabilities. This is what I have. Canon Powershot SX10IS
And yes, my avatar is a photo I took. It was taken at an overlook on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, during Estes Park's Elk Fest last year.

Your Canon looks great. I'm sure you'll be very happy with it and the results you get using it. The UK board I joined seems to prefer Canon as well. I had just bought a Nikon D5100 going with the name I'd heard most. I do like it but I'm hearing very good things about Canon cameras, lenses and equipment.

I've been really happy with it. But, all the same, I don't use it to the fullest extent possible, I know. I would love to take some classes someday. Digital, but also SLR. I have a nice Minolta XTSi (I think that's what it is) that I haven't shot with in forever and it would be great to understand things like f-stop and aperture, etc. I know the best thing to do is probably experiment by taking the same photo using different settings to see what does what, but.. Well. I just never have. I wonder if I can even find film for the Minolta anymore, lol. I love the immediacy of digital, as well as the fact that there are no wasted photos. Don't like what you got? Delete it!
Guess I should get off of here and go get ready for work now. 12 hr shift, but it'll be slow so I may upload some more pics.

I'm covering the afternoon shift for one of the girls at the office today. Only 8 hours though. Uh, I'm not very proprietary. I'd be more than happy to give you the link to the little site I found in the UK. There are some VERY knowledgeable photographers there and they're one of the friendliest, most helpful little groups I've ever run across. You can learn as much as you want there. They are patient with newbies like me too. It's a Proboard board. Your global account should be fine there. I would hope that you'd want to stay here too though ... I'm gonna need help

Sure, I may check it out. I am a co-admin on a board in the UK actually. It's not hosted by PB anymore, but the owner used to be here. That one is more politics and stuff so that's rather a challenge, given that I'm American, lol. But, I would definitely stay here, as well.

One day down, 3 to go. It was slow yesterday, as I expected, but I ended up reading on the kindle instead of posting pictures.

Had to cover a shift for a co worker yesterday. I'll need the day today to mow grass. Will be working doubles Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll try to check in time to time today. Hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!

That's no fun- the mowing or the doubles. What type of work do you do, Sam?
I'm in IT, doing distributed server support (but not an admin). I have a weird schedule... Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and *every other* Wednesday from 6 am to 6 pm. This is a "long" week for me and I'm already out of steam. But my 12s are still shorter than your doubles will be!
Last night on my way home from work, I decided to stop at Dairy Queen. I was on the phone with a friend, so I was sitting in the car finishing my conversation before going in. While I was talking, I observed a gentleman with a camera sitting outside at a table. From time to time, he'd refer to something on the table, then look at his camera, and so on. As I finally got out to go in to DQ, he had gone to his car. He looked my way as I passed, so I asked him if he'd gotten a new camera (thinking he'd been reading about the feature while at the table). He told me no, he'd had it forever, but as he takes pictures, he records his settings in a book and that's what he'd been looking at. We had a great chat about photography for about 20 min and he showed me some of his pictures on his tablet. He was super nice and I really enjoyed talking to him. Very talented he was, too!
