We've only been in the 90's but with very high humidity. It is cooler this morning. We're getting predictions of a very cold winter this year. Hope they're wrong about that.

Me too. If they're right, I might actually have to wear a coat now and then this year. I hate coats, and it's rare for me to wear one unless I know I'm going to be outside for longer than a walk to or from the car. I don't wear sweaters or long sleeves, either, because it gets too stuffy inside. I *do* always have at least one in the car, though to be honest, I never wear more than a fleece lined windbreaker. I don't even own a true winter coat, lol.
Today is my last day off before my "long" work week starts. So far, I've done 2 loads of laundry, a load of dishes, cooked teriyaki chicken, and some breakfast scramble (country hash browns, chorizo, and eggs). That pretty well covers the chores, so once I hang my work clothes when they're dry, I can relax.

I'm a wimp. I usually bundle up and would hibernate during winter if I could. I spent 5 months in a foxhole in Korea in the winter of '68. I don't think I've been truly warm since. Just can't seem to tolerate the cold since then. Might just be psychological. I have an out of town pesticide class (long story) Sept. 17 and 18. I'll drive up on Monday attend class Tuesday and Wednesday and drive back Wednesday evening/night. Then I'll have another in the first part of Oct. with the Statewide Radio Interoperable Network (SIRN). It will be on a Military base in near Kingwood (Camp Dawson). Other than that, it's just work and mow grass. Glad you're getting things done

I'm still here.. Just been busy with work. We finally got rain.. WOOHOO!
I got an email from a lady at work today. She's the site environmental expert or something. She has a website with photos of wildlife that were taken on site, so I've sent her some of mine. She mailed me today about a grey owl in a particular courtyard, in case I wanted to try to get pictures. I don't have my camera today, and it's too overcast for photos anyway. But maybe I'll bring it tomorrow and see if I can spot it on my way out for the week.

Some wildlife is just very special. Owls, hawks, eagles are almost mystical to me. I've been fortunate enough to get some really poor photos of eagles, but I haven't been able to get a hawk or owl except for the ones in captivity at the Three Rivers Avian Center near here (in fact it is on the old farm next to the one where I grew up). I did see a beautiful hawk the other day but not long enough to get a picture.
I hope you get some shots of the owl you mentioned. I'd love to see it.

I'm going to have to email her back and ask just where she's seen it. I drove over there last night on my way home but didn't spot it.

Just saw on the news this morning where wind turbines are killing dozens of Bald and Golden Eagles each year. That's sad I can't think of any solution. The wind turbines in operation can't/won't be shut down and more are being built. I don't see a 'bad guy' in this scenario, but green energy is sure taking it's toll on our wildlife.

How are the turbines killing them? I'll have to google.
It's been raining for days now, which we really needed. We've got small ponds where there aren't supposed to be any, however- including in my back yard, lol.
Looked for that owl yesterday with the lady that told me about it. She thought she saw it up in a tree, so I took a picture of what she pointed out. It turned out to be some sort of nest. I thought maybe wasp, but after looking online, it looks like a hornet's nest. I'll post the picture soon.

The eagles are accidentally flying into the wind mill blades. It's sad. I'm sure no one could have foreseen such a bad thing to come from trying to improve the environment.

Morning moonbeam, I've sent an email to John at the email address he used to register here. I haven't heard back from him, but he is local so I'll keep trying to look him up. We need some more people! If you have friends or family that you'd like to come play with us here, by all means invite them.

I really like this site, even though it's quiet. It's peaceful. Relaxing.
