Fall is definitely upon us. Yesterday's weather was overcast and cool, then it rained lightly, changed to snow, then back to rain and fog over the foothills. Glad we went up to the mountains that one weekend to take pictures because I'm pretty sure there's nothing much left up there by now.

It's turned much colder here. A lot of leaves have already come down. We're not getting the colors down here on the river this year. Tomorrow is the missus and I's annual 'punkin run'. For around 20 years we've taken one day for ourselves. We jump in the old truck and head out looking for corn shocks, pumpkins and fall yard pretties for our patio. We either take a pic nic lunch or eat on the road. At some point we always visit an orchard some 30 miles from here and pick up wind shaken apple and maybe get a bag of 'trail mix' for the ride home. We have been fortunate enough to make this run every year without missing even one. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Wish I hadn't junked my Nikon. I'll have a point and shoot of some kind and will try to get a few photos for here on AN.

I could go back up to the mountains this coming weekend, I guess, just to see if there's anything left but I'm not hopeful.
Last week, we got some snow overnight - just a very wet dusting - and when I got back home, it looked really nice on the trees with the bright blue sky. But, I was in my neighborhood and I don't like to take a lot of shots with all that "noise". So I didn't take any. And it all melted very fast so I couldn't really go anywhere else to take any either.

Supposed to be wet, cold and nasty here tomorrow. Today will be mostly gray, but not as cold, so I'll try and get the annual punkin run in today. (My off days are today and tomorrow on this shift). It's time to think about venison.

Punkin Run Tuesday went well. Not much sunshine, but we had a good trip, visited (our) trailer in VA, bought some pumpkins for the yard, had lunch at a Shoney's and traveled some backroads in the area where Bec's dad was born and raised. For me yesterday was better. I went to Brooks after the punkin run Tuesday, spent the night and aaaallllll day yesterday. I split up some wood for the stove (bad weather coming), put on a run of Chicken of the Woods jerky, hauled in some lumber from a side job Justin (youngest son, he's an engineer with rail road, but enjoys building/remodeling and does it for a hobby) is doing then cut the brush from the little shooting range at Brooks so he can sight in his rifle. He wants to come to Brooks one day of deer season, spend the night, drink some beer, cooks some steaks and rat around in the woods a bit ... sounds good to me. I even pressured my boss a little and got most of that week off from work. I took Sun. and Mon. vacation days, I'm off Tue. and Wed. and I also took Thurs (Thanksgiving) vacation day. I'm looking forward to the time off.

That's a lot that you crammed in there, Sam! Good thing I just had a nap, or I'd be tired reading about it.
My last two days were semi busy too, though. Training a new guy, but also wrote up a new procedure for one account, helped my lead clarify and rearrange all the other the procedures in our online database for that same account, chased down a new server list for another account, and spent quite a bit of time engaged in fallout from some new monitoring that was turned on for a 3rd account. They'll be turning on more new monitoring next week on the Windows servers (this go-round was unix/linux/solaris), which will undoubtedly be a disaster. But, they're doing it on my days off, so I won't have to deal with it.

Windows can be a handful. I think the programming is rising up against the programmers. Had snow yesterday evening, last night and some again today. No accumulation.

Been a nice week here. 60's for the highs. Getting down to mid to low 30's overnight though.

It's colder than normal here. Cold, blustery, rain, snow, sleet and assorted nasties. I don't want to hibernate but I'm having trouble making the transition so early.
I've been working on the wrecked Nikon. I may try sending it to repair shop. There are none here and I have no idea how to find a reputable one. I should probably contact Nikon.

I hope that it can maybe be fixed. Then again, it's possible repairs would be as much as a new one. UGH.

I hope that it can maybe be fixed. Then again, it's possible repairs would be as much as a new one. UGH. Yep, that's what several sources online indicate. I'll need to find a place that will at least give me a ball park estimate. I'm going to do the reset to factory defaults this morning and try some shots if we can just get a bit of sunlight out. It's been so dark that photos aren't coming out very well due to s-l-o-w shutter speeds.

Several face book friends and family have graciously bought and presented me with a new Nikon P520 point and shoot. I'll try to get some photos up with it this week... didn't think I whined all THAT bad ... it was really sweet of them to do this.

I've had very limited time to play with the new point and shoot. I did snap this shot from outside our office on the way in to work today. The church is a little over a half block away. (We have small blocks).

Some even better news. A friend has upgraded her DSLR and is making me a FANTASTIC deal on her D5100 like the one I destroyed. I'll be back into an SLR much sooner than I had expected. I'm going to send my wrecked D5100 to Nikon and see if it can be repaired too.
