I hope the conference and the colors are both good!
We spent 7 hrs at the zoo today and ho.ly.cow am I tired and sore! InPaint finally came up on download of the day, so I I need to do some editing, but I am going to share one picture that I thought just came out very well. It will be in the bird section.

Day two of the SIRN (Statewide Interoperable Radio Network) workshop, well, drove up on Sunday, but all I did was check in to my room and register for the conference. Yesterday was ok. The conference is on a military base and it's on lock down so activity is limited (due to the govt shutdown). Rained all day yesterday so I didn't even try to get any pictures. I don't know if I can get back in if I go out so I may try to find a window to snap a couple of pics out of.

Dang. That doesn't sound so fun. I hope the weather clears up and that you can go out to take some shots (as well as get back in afterwards!)
Been a busy week for me already. Found out last Tuesday that we have a new account coming in. It's supposed to "go live" today. That's abnormally fast, and to make it even more fun, it's what we call "crit sit" (in bad shape) from the get go.
So, I've spent hours the last two days on training calls for it, and we still don't have half of the documentation we need- such as a server list, support contacts, what things we're supporting now vs what will come to us soon, etc. Should be fun when I get in!

Well, our big account 'go live' was a fizzle. The team in India wasn't ready, so it got delayed, and they still don't have 24 x 7 support. They added on some additional tasks for us due to that but it's still not a whirlwhind of activity. I guess that's ok. I occupied my time by requesting IDs for members of the team we are merging with, so that we can start cross training.

Hope activity and support pick up for you.
Today's give away of the day 'picimp', I think, does include watermark software ... BUT ... it is not highly recommended. If you read down through the posted comments though, there is another FREE software that does every thing the picimp does and more. Probably a good one to read some reviews on.

Now ... bad news ... I had a catastrophy yesterday. There were NO Monarch butterflies here this year but yesterday a few started to migrate through. I only had to spend a half a day at work so I snuck off to Brooks to try and play with my camera. Long story short, I started up the old mountain road on my ATV and my camera pouch wasn't zipped. It fell out and I ran over it. I picked up most of the pieces of the lens, it's toast. I think the camera body is destroyed as well. I had enjoyed the past few months of getting back into photography more than I can say. I'm a little sad this morning.
It will be months, maybe years before I can replace the camera or lens.

Thanks for the sentiments y'all. I have a couple of point and shoot cameras. They'll just have to do for a while.

Oh, no!
Keep a lookout for camera bodies though--my brother found one for his wife at a pawn shop, they don't have much money so it had to have been fairly inexpensive. It is a D900 I think. Hopefully you can find one on-the-cheap!

Hopefully you can find one on-the-cheap! That's what I'm hoping for. But I'll need a lens too, mine's in pieces. I checked the local pawn shops today. No DSLR's of any kind.

If I hear of any great online deals, I'll let you know! I don't know enough people (yet) who are trying to sell stuff, but that may change as I get to know the photography club members better.

apple ... Thank You! Everyone has been so sympathetic and understanding. It will take a while to save a little back before I can start looking for another camera. In the mean time, I'm 'going to school' through online tutorials and youtube videos trying to get up the nerve to try and reset or repair the focus on the damaged Nikon. It does power up, and will take photos ... they're just badly out of focus. I should send it to see if it can be repaired professionally, but I'm hearing horror stories on line about the costs associated with that and there is no camera repair shop anywhere near me. Anyway, thanks all for you kind sentiments and please take this as a lesson. Try to maintain an awareness for your equipment's welfare. I got in a hurry, got careless and am paying the price. Pad, pack and baby your camera all that you can and still enjoy it.
